Tuesday, 8/6/2024 - Bartlett police want to remind drivers to be alert and slow down when U46 and many other area students return to school on Tuesday, 8/13. Please obey school speed zone signs, refrain from using cell phones, and pay attention to students walking to and from school. Additionally, be careful when school buses pick up and drop off students at school and in the residential neighborhoods.

Police also advise motorists to allow longer commute times to and from work due to heavier traffic congestion near the schools. Students who walk to and from school are reminded to always look both ways before crossing the street, obey the crossing guards, watch out for turning vehicles, and consider walking with a parent, sibling, friend, or neighbor.

During the first week of school, Bartlett police will conduct extra patrols near elementary schools and surrounding neighborhoods and expand traffic enforcement activities in the school speed zones.
