Driving Forces - Women & Automobiles

March is Women’s History Month. To celebrate this and the U.S. Numbered Highway System centennial, the Bartlett History Museum is hosting “Driving Forces: 100+ Years of Women Influencing, Buying, Designing & Driving Automobiles.”

The program by Barbara Barrett highlights women’s pivotal, often overlooked roles in the auto world. Topics include early pioneers like Bertha Benz, inventors of safety features and modern consumers who drive majority purchasing decisions that influence design and practicality.

The presentation will be on Wednesday, 3/11 at Bartlett Village Hall, 228 S. Main Street. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments, with a 6:45 p.m. pre-program by the museum. Barrett’s program begins at 7 p.m. Registration required. Email your name, phone number and attendees to rkoehler@bartlettil.gov.
